Checklists Privacy Policy
Effective November 2, 2026
In short: Your lists stay on your phone. Nothing about them is sent anywhere unless you turn on sharing for a list. A shared list is stored on our server so the people you share it with can see and edit it. There are no ads, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell anything.
What Checklists does
Checklists is a library of step-by-step lists for life events (tax, legal and estate, travel, home and moving, family, business and money). You can start a list, check off steps, add due dates, notes and your own steps, and optionally share a list with other people.
What stays on your phone
- Your lists and everything in them: checks, due dates, notes, steps you added, hidden steps and their order.
- The name you type if you turn on sharing, your light or dark setting, and the private keys of lists you share.
- These are kept in the app's storage on your phone (browser local storage). The app's own files are also saved on your phone so it works offline.
When you share a list
Sharing is off until you tap "Turn on sharing" for a list (or open a sharing link someone sent you). Then:
- The whole list is sent to our database so every phone with the link sees the same list: its title, target date, steps and the steps you added, checks with the name of the person who checked them and when, due dates, notes and the step order.
- The list is saved under a secret key that is part of the sharing link. Our database stores only a scrambled (SHA-256) form of the key, never the key itself.
- Anyone who has the link can open and edit the list. Share it only with people you trust.
- While a shared list is open, the app checks for changes every few seconds.
Phone reminders
If you tap "Remind me on this phone" on a shared list, our server stores your phone's notification address (the address your browser's push service gives it), your language, your reminder setting, and the step titles and due dates of that list, so it can send you a reminder when a step is due. This is available only for lists you choose to share. Turning reminders off deletes your subscription from our server.
Services we use
- Vercel hosts the app's web pages. Like any web host it keeps standard request logs, such as your internet address, browser type and the address requested, for security and troubleshooting.
- Supabase hosts the database that stores shared lists. It also keeps standard request logs.
The app loads no outside fonts, scripts, ads or analytics. Links to official sources (for example irs.gov) and to our own websites open only when you tap them.
Device features
Checklists does not use your location, camera, microphone or contacts. It asks to send notifications only if you tap "Remind me on this phone". "Add to calendar" makes a calendar file on your phone; "Print", "Share" and "Copy link" use your phone's own print, share and copy features; "Restore a backup" reads only the file you pick.
What we don't do
We don't show ads, track you across apps or websites, build profiles, or sell or rent any information. There is no account to create.
How long we keep shared lists, and deleting them
- Lists that were never shared exist only on your phone. Deleting them in the app, clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes them.
- A shared list stays on our server so the people who have the link can keep using it. "Delete" in the app removes it from every phone that shares it; "Stop sharing here" only removes it from your phone.
- To have a shared list removed from our server completely, email info@spargurtax.com with the list's title and the date you shared it, or send the sharing link. We delete it within 30 days and tell you when it's done.
Not advice
The lists are general information, not tax, legal or financial advice, and using the app does not make you a client of Spargur Tax & Accounting PA or SWFL Business Solutions.
Children
Checklists is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
